Happy New Year Dad

Now is December, and 2023 will be your 46th year on this planet. You are still writing all these letters to me saying 'I Love You', brother and mother tell me that when they were growing up in England you always came to see their birthdays and Christmas celebrations. I remember those special days when we had a bonfire, sang songs of love and friendship, or simply gave presents and gifts that would last forever. But today I can only hope 2024 brings some good things for everyone. I can only pray that God protects our family, as he does so often with his people, even in our small town which seems somewhat foreign to him.

How did our first kiss feel as it was just a week ago? It was hard to believe that those two hours had passed because it felt like we had been together for months. The smell of chocolate chips enveloped you and me, taking a little piece from your mouth and putting it into mine. And our hearts beat faster and faster as we shared our stories. How should we ever forget that night? Those moments before we fell asleep made me fall asleep right there beside you. That night is peaceful for me.

It's funny how memories stay with you over time. For weeks I couldn't stop thinking of you or missing you, but then one day you went back to sleep after dinner and we never spoke again. In 2023 we'll go away for a short holiday to spend more quality time with our family once again. We really will miss spending vacations together, we were having dinner at our favorite restaurant and reminiscing about childhood. A smile comes on my face when I remember that funny memories with you Dad!

All these years later, my kids know who you are and what you stood for. Even though many don't, they know you are someone who didn't think twice before doing the right thing, and that's what makes a big difference. You never compromised what you believed.

No matter what anyone says you did, you knew exactly what was best for us. The thought of going through another one of those heartbreaks is certainly not the same as the pain you caused when you lost the chance to take care of us children. Thank you, Dad! Happy New Year Dad!

At least that's what I hope you're feeling. If there's one positive thing to come out of life I want to give you this opportunity to cherish it for our sake. When life gives you lemons make lemonade. Sometimes you have to eat bitter things to survive.

Life is full of beauty, sorrow, laughter, tears, joy, and everything else. There are plenty of reasons why we shouldn't dwell on the past and focus on the bright future instead. Because the present is what matters most. Your happiness doesn't mean anything if you're not enjoying your journey to living a meaningful life. Dad is like a shutter from the difficulties of life. My dear Dad always supports me.
